Press Release
Replacing an Accountant’s Filing Cabinets
with CD-ROM.

Files and make them accessible from a PC using Optical Character
Recognition (OCR) techniques to enable any file to be accessed
from a personal computer. The project started in September
2005.
Cartwrights is a team of chartered and certified chartered
accountants with expertise in all areas of financial management,
auditing, accounting and taxation, including specialising
in major proprietor-run businesses and solicitors accounts
rules, charities and pension schemes. An independent long-established
practice based in Barnet, they are members of the UK200 Group
(the UK’s leading association of quality assured accountants
and lawyers). Like many firms, they had previously used large
amounts of space to store massive amounts of paper. Not only
was this expensive but it meant that obtaining information
about past casework was slow and inefficient.
Partner, Andrew Hill, said "Our philosophy is to provide
a top quality service in a cost-effective manner. As part
of this strategy we were looking for an effective means of
storing closed client files that was confidential but also
easily accessible for staff so that client queries could
be dealt with quickly and effectively. The keyword search
facility offered by CZA's software enables files to be found
quickly and, once located, we can scroll through the electronic
files and print some or all pages as required. This solution
has made our document retrieval quicker and cheaper, has
revolutionised our archiving facilities and enabled us to
focus on what matters – our clients”. Andrew
chose Copyzone after a thorough search of the market. He
would be pleased to offer the benefit of his experience to
other businesses and can be contacted at andy@cartwrights-ca.co.uk.
CZA Marketing Director, Ian Hudson, said “We are delighted
to work with our first Accountant. We are talking to a number
of similar companies and I’m sure this area of work
will grow quickly”.
